I have a rather unusual obsession the past month or so--at least unusual for a woman who not long ago entered her thirties...
I drink it every. single. day. No joke.
My husband makes fun of me. He thinks it's weird. I don't care.
I know my last post was horrendously unhealthy in so many ways...white bread, white sugar, highly processed and sugary eggnog...but tis the season for splurging!:)
Today I will revert to my more typical love of all things healthy and natural and give you my latest healthy twist on hot cocoa.
I promise it still tastes good. In fact, I think it may be better than any I've ever had!
For one good sized mug of hot cocoa (because honestly, who only drinks 6 oz like the pre-made cocoa mix suggests!), here's what you do:
In a small sauce pan, mix
1-2 T dark cocoa powder (depending on how chocolatey you like it),
1-2 T agave nectar (depending on how sweet you like it),
and a splash of water.
Place on low/med-low heat on the stove and stir until cocoa is dissolved.
Add 1 1/2 C milk (could use soy/almond/coconut milk)
Stir constantly until the milk is steaming.
(If you quit stirring for too long, it will scorch)
Pour into a mug, cozy up on your couch and enjoy on a cold winter day!
Here are some fun little things to add if you want to change it up a bit...
Stir your cocoa with a candy cane for a peppermint twist;
add a splash of vanilla or almond extract, or for
some 'adult cocoa', add Kahlua or Bailey's:)
There you have it...hot chocolate that is naturally sweetened (no processed sugar or artificial sweetener), and zero processed. Simple & delicious!
Hope your weekend is great!!!
Happy Birthday Dad, & congrats on graduating from the Academy today...so proud of you!!!
