March Resolution

Tomorrow is the first day of March, and March makes me think of Spring,
especially since I just realized that in ten short days, we get to set our clocks ahead and it starts staying light later, which makes me think of Summer, and if you know me at all, you know that THAT makes me very happy!
We have no plans for the weekend except to be outside as much as possible, as it's supposed to be down right balmy here...53 degrees predicted, not bad for the first week of March where we live!

As February comes to an end today, I will briefly recap my Feb resolution, which was to only go to the grocery store one day a week...no in between "we just have to have it" shopping trips.
This was in an effort to stick to our budget and cut out the added costs that accrue each week as I stop at the store for just a couple of things almost daily.
How did I do? Technically, not so good.
But in my defense, the plan changed slightly, let me explain...
We got to the actual setting up a budget (Dave Ramsey Financial Peace),
so I decided that as long as I keep track of spending and don't go over each month, I can go as often as I want. Takes the pressure off if I forget something, because I always do! And it's usually something major! I have found that keeping a running tab and seeing the number get closer and closer to the set amount we have allocated for food does keep me in check pretty well.
So that's that.

On to March.
I hadn't put a ton of thought into what I would do this month, but it came to me pretty easily as I sat down to write. The only thing weighing on my heart to have as a resolution this month is to memorize more Bible.
I read every day, but rarely take the time to intentionally memorize verses that I don't already have stored away. The Bible says to 'hide the word in our heart.'
This morning I started reading through the Psalms again, starting with Chapter one, and I love what it says, and I do think it is literal!

Blessed is the man...
...whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.

Think about that! It's such an amazing promise,
that if we meditate on the Word of God at all times,
we will stand firm, be fruitful and prosper in all we do.
I'm not going all prosperity gospel on you, promise!
And I'm not saying life will be all roses, not at all!
I am saying that the more we read the Word and meditate on it, the more we will be in tune with God, and the more in tune with him we are, the closer we can be to living his will for our lives.
And when we are truly living out God's will for our lives, we are fruitful and prosperous (again, not necessarily financially, although sometimes that is the case!) It does mean we will prosper at all we do, and honestly, who doesn't want that? No one sets out to do something hoping to fail or be mediocre!
This passage totally motivates me to be in the Word, not just in the morning, but to meditate on it all through the day, to have verses on my bathroom mirror and wherever else I will see them, and to go to bed with scripture on my mind.
Also, backtrack to the very first word...blessed. This means 'happy'. Happy is the man who delights in the Bible and meditates on it day and night! Awesome!
That, friends, is March!
