The weather's warm, evenings are getting less chilly (by less chilly, I mean you can't see your breath outside), and fresh fruit is starting to be in season. It's almost summer; the time for hot cocoa and soup is over...and the time for frozen drinks is here!! Smoothies, homemade popsicles, iced coffees, and MARGARITAS:) Which brings me to the picture above: a lovely pineapple strawberry margarita I enjoyed (twice!) last week, so much that I thought I'd share the recipe, which I made up as I went (I'm not a margarita expert, but they turned out pretty tasty!) Excuse the over-photo-shopped look of the picture, which for some reason turned blueish and then I got tired of messing with it. My food photos are a work in progress, but it's kinda hard when you're working with a non-i phone type of smart phone! Hey, I do the best I can, and at least my attempts at food photography can provide some humor...
Below: some more of my awesome pictures of ingredients, because I'm a dork. And below that, the recipe!
Inspiring pictures aren't they?
Strawberry Pineapple Margaritas (for 2)
Juice of 2 oranges
2 C fresh (and frozen) pineapple
1 C fresh strawberries
2 T agave nectar
1/4 C quality tequila
1/8 C triple sec
Blend until smooth. If necessary, add a bit more OJ or a splash of very cold water to get it blended to the right consistency. Rub the rim of your glasses with one of the squeezed oranges, then dip in course salt or sugar. If you're feeling fancy, throw in a cute straw and garnish with a wedge of pineapple or a strawberry. But most importantly, go enjoy the night air and drink your margarita and be happy:)
